Hello from the Adult Transition Program and Services (ATPS) at the Dr. John M. Schultz Educational Campus!
Here is a little more about our students…
The RCS Adult Transition Program and Services (ATPS) and students with multiple impairments (SXI) would love the opportunity to attend an art class every week at the Paint-A-Miracle studio located in downtown Rochester.
In 2019, the RCS community helped fully funded a same request and allowed our students to attend up to 30 classes that school year!! The students were ECSTATIC!!
They all had an opportunity to create, showcase, and even sell their art, if they chose to do so!! Every donor that contributed to their joy received a personalized thank you note with their art from outside. THANK YOU!

The main principles of the ATPS is for students to develop independence with the community through community relationships. This program offers the opportunity to create art with the support and accommodations that students to be independent and participate fully within our community.

Hello! My name is Ms. Tracye Schwartz.
I am a Learning Consultant at Adams High School. I am seeking your help to raise enough funds to create a “Take A Minute” Calm Environment Space that is more inviting and serene to accommodate and comfort to students with special needs, 504 and/or IEP, anxiety disorders, or any student struggling with social emotional health while taking assessments or working on projects outside of the classroom.
This is my proposal’s compelling why…
Often times, students with special needs, be it a 504 accommodation plan, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or any child struggling with his/her social and emotional health seemingly feel more comfortable taking assessments or working on assignments and projects outside of the classroom in a non-traditional, quiet and calm setting.
It is our desire at Adams High School (AHS) to create an environment of tranquillity and quiet to accommodate and comfort this unique population of students.
With the use of alternative seating, study carrels, privacy screens, and an area rug to control noise, we feel these students will be able to cope better with their test anxiety and consequently, improve their assessment performances.
Moreover, students can access the space to receive extra classroom supports, particularly in math and language arts.

Currently, we do not have appropriate furniture to accommodate the amount of students who are accessing the room.

Hello! My name is Ms. Morey!
I am a teacher at Rochester Adams High School where I currently teach Robotics, Engineering and Architecture. I am seeking your help to raise enough funds to purchase an AIBO robotic dog.
This is my proposal’s compelling why…
We only have so many resources with the robots we already have. My students are able to program these robots and see how we can control them, but we are not able to see how a robot can learn all by itself. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is going to be a large part of robotics heading into the future and we should have the resources to keep up with this change.
Having the aibo robot will offer us the opportunity to see how an AI robot can work by understanding how it develops over time from its interactions within the classroom. This robot has the AI to learn through its own curiosity from its own experiences, giving the class a good idea of how AI can be used in robotics.

The AIBO robotic dog is a robot puppy that has the ability to learn from and adapt to its surroundings. It is not only good for learning, but also good for bringing joy to the classroom. It can learn its name, commands, and can even be taught to do tricks. We believe that between the first-hand experience of watching an AI robot grow and having fun while doing so, the benefit the robotics class will receive from aibo is well worth the cost.

The American Sign Language (ASL) class at Stoney Creek High School provides a unique visually engaging experience for students and having comfortable seating is essential!
To help keep their experience and interest intrigued in ASL, we are seeking your help to raise enough funds to purchase 15 Big Joe Dorm Bean Bag Chairs to help transition classroom furniture to flexible seating.
The Big Joe Dorm Bean Bag Chairs are made with SmartMax Fabric: Tough, stain resistant, water-resistant, and easily cleaned with a damp cloth!

In ASL classes, students use visual language as their main mode of communication.
It is essential to have seating that is conducive to this type of environment. This grant is a request to start transitioning classroom furniture to flexible seating.
Flexible seating would allow students to easily move into conversation circles. After surveying each class, flexible seating is something a majority of students feel like would increase their comfort level and ultimately their level of engagement.

I believe in helping the development of our communities especially those individuals who may need some extra help to reach their full potential. I recognize software tools such as BrainPOP may provide opportunities during these challenging times with the COVID distancing and virtual learning requirements. HOWEVER, I would like to share my opinion that I believe individuals with autism are best developed through programs with outdoor activities, focusing on nature and a very high level of interpersonal skill development. When circumstances permit, I encourage you and others doing this work to move away from digital media and move towards live programs and tangible media. Keep up your good intentions!

Even though I am the teacher, they have already taught me so much. While on the exterior it may not seem that they have opinions and wants, they most certainly do.
