RCS Foundation Scholarship Program
Annually, legacy donors partner with the Rochester Community Schools Foundation to create and provide Rochester Community Schools high school seniors with scholarships to promote continuing education.
Over the years, more than $100,000 scholarship awards have been granted.

    The Grace and Rick Drummer Scholarship was established by Elizabeth Witten in honor of the Drummers to award 3 RCS graduates who are currently active Eagle Scouts with the Boy Scouts of America.  Congratulations to COLIN HARTGERS on receiving both scholarships!

    The Judith Freund Scholarship was established in 2010 to honor her 23 years of service to students, parents, and staff of Rochester Community Schools and to celebrate her years of dedication to education and teaching students of special needs.  Congratulations to LAUREN DAUGHERTY  on receiving both scholarships!

    The Alice G. Horter Memorial Scholarship was established by a generous bequest to Rochester High School by Mrs. Alice G. Horter, a longtime Rochester resident. This scholarship is awarded to 4 graduates from Rochester High School who have exhibited school spirit, perseverance, character and academic achievement. Congratulations STEPHANIE GLASPIE!

    The Rochester Area Youth Assistance (RAYA) Scholarship was established by the RAYA organization; a non-profit organization whose goal is to strengthen youth and families in the Rochester Community and to reduce the incidence of delinquency, abuse and neglect through community partnerships. This scholarship awards 2 RCS graduates pursuing a post-secondary education that overcame adversity and was very involved within the community. Congratulations MARIA GOJCAJ!

    The Susan Thomasson “Heart for Service” Scholarship was established by a donation from Beth and Tom Talbert in memory of Susan Thomasson who dedicated her life to serving her community. The scholarship is awarded to an RCS graduate with a genuine passion for serving others and strives to make a difference within the Greater Rochester Community. Congratulations CADEN HEAPHY!

    The RHS Athletic Boosters Scholarship was established by the Rochester High School Athletic Boosters to award 4 RHS graduates who are letter winners of an MHSAA recognized sport. Congratulations ANDREW HEBEKEUSER!

    In 2015, the friends and family of Laura Jermyn established the Laura Jermyn Memorial Scholarship in her honor. Laura was a teacher and a mother perpetually supporting and encouraging her children to find and pursue their passions in school. She was compassionate, generous and fun-loving with a laugh that could brighten a room. She was genuine and was not afraid to be herself. The scholarship is available to an RCS senior graduate who embodies Laura’s character. Congratulations MORGAN HOUSER!

Robinson to provide an award to a graduating senior from RHS who displays a passion to pursue a trade to better themselves. The Robert “Bob” Hernandez Memorial Scholarship was  established in memory of Robert “Bob” Hernandez to provide an award to a graduating senior from RHS who also plans to pursue continuing his/her education in the skilled trades. The Hayes Family Memorial Scholarship was established an annual donation from the Hayes Family to provide an academic scholarship.

    The Gage Garmo Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Gage Garmo a graduate and member of the Rochester High School Falcon football team. Gage earned the “Unsung Hero” award because he inspired his teammates with his unwavering positive attitude and his relentless ability to tackle adversity. Gage’s passion for his school and peers along with his toughness left the legacy of #GARMOSTRONG to all those he touched.
