I am a learning consultant at Rochester High School and I am seeking your help to raise enough funds to purchase a larger and more beautiful chicken coop to give our growing chicken family more space for roosting and roaming!
This is my proposal’s compelling why…
Our project impacts ALL students starting in kindergarten to 12th grade!!
By creating a chicken legacy, we will begin with the elementary feeder schools to RHS with the kindergarten classes naming a chicken. The chickens will also take a field trip to the feeder school so the students can have a hands on experience with their chicken.
The RHS Falcon Flock team was brought to life with the support of all the students at West Middle School’s Chicken Tender Club. Students enrolled in foods, the Cognitive Impairment (CI) program, and woods class are also involved with creating a self sustainable space in the courtyard of RHS.
The Falcon Flock members will be responsible for the daily tasks of feeding, water, etc. as well as cleaning. Our CI students will collect eggs for our foods class. Our foods students will also collect any safe-to-eat food scraps for our chickens. Our woodworking program students are currently collecting the shavings left from any project/task they have completed to provide the chickens bedding. Club members will learn what native plants are safe for chickens in the courtyard.
A local Girl Scout troop has donated time and talent to help with the coop set-up.
