Hello! My name is Ms. Kristi McAllister!
Here is a little more about me…
I am a teacher for the Adult Transition Program and Services (ATPS) at the Dr. John M. Schultz Educational Campus.
I love my students because…
Even though I am the teacher, they have already taught me so much. While on the exterior it may not seem that they have opinions and wants, they most certainly do. I have taken the time to pay very close attention to their movements, eye gazes, facial expressions and body language to understand them and see them for who they are. They each are unique and have beautiful personalities! ♥ They are truly a gift. ♥

More about my project…
The Switch Access For All project will impact students in Rochester Community Schools Adult Transition Program (RCS ATPS), between the ages of 18 to 26, by providing a variety of adaptive tools needed to enhance their ability to independently engage with their natural environment which includes daily living skills, classroom jobs, and art & leisure activities.
My students have severe multiple impairments along with physical limitations that require adaptive switches to allow each of them to independently engage and participate in their classroom environment.
By providing switch enabled switches within the school setting, my students will be able to work on skills to develop their participation and independence skills throughout their school day. The use of adaptive switches will not only provide more opportunities for student participation, engagement, and independent skill development, but it will also provide opportunities to create a more inclusive and adaptive environment for my students to participate in activities alongside their peers throughout the school day.
