An initiative to connect the community with opportunities to contribute and strengthen academic programs, the arts and athletics for all students.
On #ThankfulThursday, we visited Julie Amore at Meadow Brook. The Gumz family made a donation on Mrs. Amore's behalf to recognize the "master teacher" that she is: caring, fun, positive and optimistic. "Dr. Shaner sets the pace for superintendents across the state with his outstanding character, unwavering commitment to children, fiscal responsibility, and strategic planning," said Bryan Barnett, mayor of the City of Rochester Hills- Government. Yesterday, Barnett and the city council shared a proclamation, honoring Dr. Shaner's 2020 Michigan Superintendent of the Year award from the Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators. Barnett expressed the importance of the partnership between RCS and the community, noting that when people are asked why they move to Rochester Hills, the performance of the school district is a top factor. "Dr. Shaner has led with integrity, and has led his board and his organization in an incredible way that has allowed both organizations to thrive," Barnett said. "I’m often told that we have one of the best school districts in the Midwest," said Dr. Shaner, "and I believe that--because this entire community is behind the school district, and behind high-quality outcomes for our kids."See video of the presentation here: https://youtu.be/U_IC4HaKPAY.#RCSpride #RCSCountOnMe ... Our social-emotional task force will continue to work with the CTRC to lead the type of systemic change needed within the district.
